  • Jennifer Micek
    is originally from St. Louis, Missouri, and trained there under Miss Norma Beutell. At the age of 16, Ms. Micek trained on scholarship in New York at both the Joffrey Ballet and the Alvin Ailey American Dance Center. At 18, she was crowned “Miss Dance of America” through the Dance Masters of America Association. Professionally, Jennifer was a member of both the Colorado Ballet and the Sarasota Ballet of Florida.

    Jennifer founded the Dance Conservatory of Denver in 2002, after serving as the Director of the Colorado Ballet South Academy. Jennifer has taught in Denver at Good Shepherd School, Denver International School, Colorado Ballet, and the Classical Ballet School. The Dance Conservatory of Denver is known for it’s professional classes in a fun and caring environment.

    Staci Kinkead Fox is from Martinsburg, WV and received her formal training at Inwood Performing Arts Company in Inwood, WV. While there she was trained in the Royal Academy style of ballet as well as jazz, modern and Broadway tap. At the age of 14, Ms. Fox was accepted as a full scholarship student to The Kirov Academy of Ballet in Washington, DC. There she was trained in the Vaganova method under the instruction of Ludmilla Morkovina.

    Upon graduation, Ms. Fox joined Colorado Ballet as an apprentice and was then invited to join as a corps de ballet member one year later. In 2003 she was promoted to soloist. Her roles with Colorado Ballet include “Myrtha” in Giselle, “Fleur de Farine” and “Diamond Fairy” in Sleeping Beauty, “Mercedes” and “Anita” in Don Quixote, “Fortune” in Carmina Burana and “The Cowgirl” in Agnes de Mille’s Rodeo. Ms. Fox has also danced featured roles with many contemporary choreographers including Michael Pink, Peter Pucci, Donald McKayle, Toru Shimazaki, Septime Weber and Doug Varone.

    Ms. Fox retired from Colorado Ballet after the 2004 season to pursue career opportunities in veterinary medicine all the while staying close to her roots in the dance world by teaching at many dance facilities in Colorado, West Virginia and Maryland. When not teaching, Ms. Fox works at a local doggie daycare and spends her free time with her wonderful husband, Ryan and two rambunctious beagles.

    Katie Stokes began her dancing career at the age of 5 under the nurturing guidance of Michelle Alspaw at Carlsbad Parks and Recreation in San Diego, CA.  After dancing in the California Ballet’s production of the Nutcracker, Katie auditioned and was accepted to the California Ballet School at age 11.  While training at the California Ballet School, Katie attended summer programs with the American Ballet Theatre, Boston Ballet, and Colorado Ballet. During the academic school year, Katie also performed with her high school’s dance department.  Throughout her training, Katie frequented the EDGE Performing Arts Center and Millennium Dance Complex in Los Angeles, California where Katie developed a love for contemporary dance.

    Katie won a scholarship to participate in the University of Nevada’s Dance Intensive after performing at Dance Educators of America. She took first place in the young choreographers division at both the Second Annual International Dance Competition held in Tijuana, Mexico and a regional competition hosted by the Coronado School of the Arts.

    As an apprentice to the California Ballet, Katie performed lead roles in school productions, instructed children’s level classes and worked at California Ballet’s Dance Wear Etc.

    With the California Ballet Company, Katie appeared in many productions.  Her favorites include Romeo and Juliet, Coppelia, Giselle, Sleeping Beauty, La Bayadere, and of course The Nutcracker! Katie left the California Ballet to attend the University of Colorado in 2003 and graduated in 2008 with a Bachelors of Science in Biology. Katie has stayed closely involved in dance by taking adult classes at the Colorado Ballet and was ecstatic to join the Dance Conservatory of Denver staff in September 2009.

    Michael Micek – Office Manager
